About Katelyn
I am excited to welcome Katelyn Mecca to the Clancy Tutoring team. I’ll let her introduce herself below:
When I first started college at George Mason University in 2014, I was unsure of what I wanted to do or study. I knew I enjoyed and excelled in math and science, and found my passion in physics. While earning a B.S. in physics, my advisor recommended me for a teaching assistant position, where I found I enjoyed not only learning physics, but sharing that knowledge and processes of understanding with others. I soon after joined an accelerated master's program to earn an M.Ed. with a focus on Secondary Science, and in 2019, began my teaching career. I have taught middle school physical science under the guidance of a mentor, as well as led my own general and AP physics classes at a high school in MCPS.
I have found that my joy for teaching comes most from interactions with students. I value their input as we discuss and interpret science and math concepts, and look to their current and developing understanding to guide the learning process. As a tutor, I am eager to help students make academic strides and recognize their abilities to approach and overcome a challenge.
