About Matt

IT ALL STARTED WHEN….

After graduating from Penn State in 2011, I, like many of my classmates, was unsure of what exactly to do next. I did some freelance writing, then took a job at Facebook, then moved to a tech start up called Presto Sports, but I still did not find my “calling.” Ultimately, I landed at a tutoring center called C2 Education, and finally, I was excited to go to work every day. I felt like I could really make a positive difference and the obvious happiness (and occasional relief) on a student’s face when a good grade or standardized test score came in was the most rewarding professional experience I had ever had. I discovered that the majority of my students were passionate about their dreams, goals, and futures and that a quality education was the platform from which they could launch.

PRIVATE TUTORING VS. “PRIVATE” TUTORING

My experience at C2 was invaluable in helping me discover my passion for helping today’s students and teaching me the fundamentals of tutoring. However, after three years, I felt that I could offer a better service by working independently. By being self employed, I am able to offer a number of services that a tutoring center cannot. First and foremost, I can offer one-on-one tutoring instead of three-on-one or group sessions. In these multi-student environments, each individual receives 15-30 minutes of attention from the tutor per hour, working independently for the remainder of the time. My one-on-one tutoring is a full hour of direct instruction that is tailored to the individual student’s specific needs. Also, I am able to make myself available outside of the session (something corporate centers hate because they are not getting paid for it!) to answer questions via text and email. This way, students can receive the help they need when THEY need it and do not have to wait until their next tutoring sessions. I understand that in 2024 both parents and students are busy, so I strive to offer a service that revolves around YOUR schedule. Whether your child’s preferred study space is your house, a nearby coffee shop, or a library, I come to you so that you have one less destination that you need to chauffeur your student to. Ultimately, I strive to create a modern educational experience that fits your students’ schedules and needs in order to help them achieve academic benchmarks and maximize their potential.
